Pet tag deadline is nigh

Peabody City Clerk Stephanie Lago reminds pet owners that January 30 is the last day to purchase a city pet tag for dogs and cats.

“The regular charge is $5 for an animal that has been spayed or neutered and $10 for one that has not,” she said. “After the deadline, the basic charge remains the same, but there also is a late fee of $15 assessed on each tag.”

Proof of a current rabies vaccine also is required to purchase a tag for 2015.

After the first of March the owner of any untagged cat or dog will be subject to being ticketed and fined by Peabody Animal Control officer, Duane Davis, for being in violation of the city’s pet tag ordinance.
