ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

June 26 — Parties involved in a domestic dispute in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. were separated.

June 27 — A skunk reported at the city’s sports complex during a game left on its own. A vehicle reported as being abandoned in the city’s industrial park was awaiting pickup by a repair shop. A complaint about a semi-trailer truck failing to yield in the 500 block of N. Ash St. was determined to be unfounded.

June 28 — A door on a fuel pump at Epp’s Service was found open, but nothing appeared to damaged or altered. A citizen complained about vehicle damage caused by a car wash. A reportedly suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. left the area. Police helped a resident install at car seat for a child.

Thursday — Fireworks were discharged in splash pad restrooms, but no damage was noted. Inappropriate behavior a day earlier at the city pool already had been addressed by pool staff by the time a resident complained to police. A woman who walked into Country Side Feed from Hillsboro Community Hospital received help finding a ride to Peabody. A dog dispute among residents of the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. was resolved. A dog complained about in the 300 block of N. Washington St. was not located. Damaged glass in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was found to have broken by a mowing crew.

Friday — People shooting fireworks a day early in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave. and in the 500 block of S. Ash St. were warned.

Saturday — What was reported to be a suspicious person along Industrial Rd. turned out to be a resident out walking. A dog reported to be lost was found by its owner. A noise complaint in the 300 block of N. Ash St. was resolved. A fireworks violation in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. was addressed in an unspecified way.

Sunday — No report.

Marion’s new police chief, Gideon Cody, has opted to discontinue providing weekly reports of officers’ activity. After more than 50 years of regularly publishing such reports, the Record is attempting to persuade him to reverse his decision.
