ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies often are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 4 — Drivers were warned for unsafe passing at US-56 and K-15 / Holly Rd. and for having a defective windshield in the 100 block of N. Ash St. Police checked on a resident of the 400 block of W. Grand Ave. and found that a child playing with a phone was responsible for a disconnected 911 call in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St.

Aug. 5 — A vehicle stolen from Hillsboro Ford was found crashed into a utility pole in the 100 block of N. Birch St. Police presented a program on illicit substances to Tabor College students.

Aug. 6 — A driver was warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. Police checked on a resident of the 200 block of S. Ash St. and answered questions about electronic bicycles and about a civil matter in the 100 block of F St.

Thursday — Police monitored traffic at Hillsboro’s new day-care center, checked on a resident of the 300 block of N. Main St., and identified streetlights that might not be working.

Friday — Police investigated a wreck at 1st and Jefferson Sts., helped round up cattle in the roadway at US-56 and K-15 / Holly Rd., and assisted a driver locked out of a vehicle in the 200 block of W. B St. Drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 near Santa Fe St., in the 200 block of W. 3rd St., and in the 200 block of N. Ash St.; for failing to signal a turn in the 100 block of N. Ash St.; for making an improper turn in the 400 block of S. Date St.; and for running a stop sign in the 200 block of Elm St.

Saturday — Police helped a dog owner find a loose dog, answered a question about vehicle registration, and helped at a wreck on Indigo Rd. near 170th Rd. Drivers were ticketed for running a stop sign at Madison and D Sts. and for running a stop sign and violating license restrictions at US-56 and Ash St. Other drivers were warned for expired registration in the 200 block of E. D St. and for equipment violations in the 100 block of S. Ash St., the 200 block of N. Ash St., and at US-56 and Ash St.

Sunday — Police stood by during a civil matter in the 200 block of Kennedy St.

MARION

Aug. 4 — Police helped a resident find misplaced medication in the 200 block of Grant St.

Aug. 5 — Police participated in a Safe Kids event at the Sports and Aquatics Center.

Aug. 6 — A door to a high-voltage fuse panel was found to have been opened to the elements outside the Marion County Record office, but the panel had not otherwise been tampered with. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Timber Rd.

Thursday — A fox reportedly attacked a dog at Marion Cemetery. Police investigated a possible fraud. No problems were found in checking on a report of a person walking around property in the 700 block of S. Freeborn St. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Friday — A vehicle apparently abandoned and illegally parked near 3rd and Water Sts. had broken down and was removed by its owner. A driver was ticketed for speeding and driving with a suspended license at Main and 2nd Sts.

Saturday — Police directed to a motel occupants of a vehicle parked in Central Park after hours. No problems were found in checking on a report of harassment and trespassing in the 200 block of N. Cedar St. and on a disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of Grant St. Police tried to catch a dog running loose near Main and Lincoln Sts. A driver was warned for speeding at Main and Vine Sts.

Sunday — Theft of a trailer from the 100 block of Walnut St. remains under investigation.
