Raymond C. Schlichting, 93, died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

He was born April 20, 1919 to J.D. and Justina (Friessen) Schlichting in Weatherford, Okla.

He married Blondine Loewen on June 8, 1943 in rural Hillsboro. She preceded him in death in 2005. A daughter, Loretta Janzen, died in 1995.

Schlichting is survived by daughters, Annette Block of Thousand Oaks, Calif, and Deborah Toews of Wichita; brother, Walter Schlichting of East Texas; sister, Rosaline Adrian of Muncie, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

The service was Monday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, with Pastor John Warkentin presiding. Burial was Monday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. A memorial fund for Tabor College Fine Arts Center has been established.
