Rhino rage

To the editor:

Why would any of the elected county commissioners entertain the idea of making county property the home of several of Marion’s rhinos?

Perhaps since the majority were in favor, other communities will be able to benefit from this decision.

What thought was put into who assumes liability for possible injuries if children are playing on the rhino at the county lake?

Homeowners at the county lake could serve Marion’s purpose of attracting tourism by placing rhinos on their property if they so desire.

Perhaps tourist attraction grant money could be better spent in other ways of attracting tourism. There is nothing intriguing about rhino statues to bring people coming back again and again.

What is intriguing is attending a county commission meeting where hare-brained ideas are presented. Is this the best that Marion and Marion County has to offer?

Perhaps the next thing Marion will present in intriguing ideas will be a carousel in the park where alcoholic beverages are served as it goes around and around.
