Richard Herpich

Richard “Rick” Lee Herpich, 54, of Peabody died Oct. 8 at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1958, in Herington to Fred Lee Jr. and Gladys E. (Hamilton) Herpich.

He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and attended Woodbine Grade School, where he was in the last graduating eighth grade class before the school closed. He graduated from White City High School in 1977.

He married Heather L. Sump on May 3, 2003, at Green.

He was a truck driver for U.S. Foods the past 10 years. He had worked for Dolly Madison Bakery in Emporia for 13 years before that.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Nancy Herpich, in 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Heather, of Peabody; a daughter, Ashley Johnson of Strong City; his parents, Fred and Gladys Herpich of Abilene; one sister, Jennifer Phillips of Haymarket, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation with family was Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.

A funeral service was Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook, with the Rev. Justin Panzer officiating. Burial followed at St. John Cemetery in White City.

A memorial fund has been established with St. John Cemetery, White City.
