Ruth E. Riggin

Ruth E. Riggin, 89, of Salina and formerly of Lost Springs, died Dec. 19 at Pinnacle Park Nursing Home in Salina.

She was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Marion to Albert and Alice (Dody) Schroer. She lived most of her life in Lost Springs and Burdick. She graduated from Lost Springs High School and operated the Lost Springs Telephone Office until it closed, then she owned and operated Zinn Mercantile and Café until her retirement.

She married Bill Zinn on June 18, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1957. She then married Johnny Riggin of Burdick. He preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Laird Schroer and Gerald Schroer.

She is survived by her five children, Gary Zinn of Wamego, Julie Sader of Salina, Bob Riggin of Detroit, Jack Riggin of Burdick, and Pat Baker of Lawrence; a sister, Lois Peterson of Burdick; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burdick United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.J. Beck and Phil Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Lost Springs Cemetery.

Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 21 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Hope.

A memorial fund has been established for Burdick United Methodist Church.
