Sandra Sue (Weems) Watson, 54, a resident of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away June 14 at her home. She was born in Newton, the daughter of Melvin and Noreen (Albright) Weems.

She attended Peabody schools and was a member of Peabody United Methodist Church. She was active in church, choir, and Sunday school where she held a seven-year perfect attendance record.

Sandy loved pets and was happy when her family moved to the country. She first had rabbits to care for, followed by sheep.

Gary and Marilyn Jones had a ewe named Bubbles for the Weems children. Bubbles had twins they named Buttons and Bows — one for Sandy and one for her older sister, Teresa. They and their brother were active in 4-H, and entering multiple projects in the Marion County Fair was an annual highlight.

Sandy had several horses and enjoyed riding and getting them ready for saddle club shows. On a recent visit home, she recalled memorable events of growing up in the country.

Sandy was married to Steven Eugene May in October, 1977, and they had a daughter, Amanda. They divorced, and she later married Garry Watson. They later divorced.

Sandy worked as a sales consultant at several wedding shops in Beaverton and was the shoe-dying specialist in the Portland area. She was a part of The Silver Rush jewelry business, specializing in unique silver and other accessories. She also worked as a receptionist at EPBB Insurance Co. in Portland.

She loved to sing, performing at weddings, parties, and special engagements. She often joined Randy Morrison, who opened up a new avenue of versatility and vocal style while singing with acoustic guitar. Together they were a part of the Oregon Music Hall.

Daughter Amanda and granddaughter Skylar were the loves of Sandy’s life. When she returned two years ago for July 4, she and Skylar enjoyed carnival rides and playing at the park. This past Christmas they shared four-wheeling together. Sandy was looking forward to Amanda’s wedding to Kyle Nuckles and welcoming a grandson in November.

Her grandparents and sister preceded her in death. Sandy expressed a desire to be laid to rest next to Teresa when her time came. Her family had no idea it would be so soon.

Survivors include her parents, Melvin and Noreen Weems, daughter Amanda Nuckles, granddaughter Skylar Westerfield, brother Darren Weems, niece Ashley Weems, nephews Jarred and Garrett, and many other relatives and friends.

An inurnment and celebration of her life were at 11 a.m. July 25 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Peabody United Methodist Church.

A memorial has been established with the church.
