Peabody-Burns Board of Education accepted the resignation of K-12 art teacher Kerry Czarnowsky on June 10. After discussion, the board accepted the recommendation of the administration and approved a contract offer to Sharon Matz as half-time art teacher.

The board entered two executive sessions totaling 25 minutes to discuss personnel. On return to open meeting, the board approved job offerings for year-round classified staff members but tabled offerings to school-year classified staff until the next meeting.

Changes were made for the day care and preschool programs for the 2013-14 school year. The day care program will see an increase in charges, and the payment policy will be defined by the board. The preschool program will be a four-day-a-week program, a $45 annual milk fee will be charged, and the administration will be responsible for fee collections.

The board approved roof repairs for the elementary school, and agreed to allow a $5,000 withdrawal from the Depler Band Fund to be used for instruments, instrument repair, and assistance to the band program.

Darren Schroeder was appointed to serve on Peabody-Burns Recreation Commission as the district’s representative, replacing Barry Peter.

Patty Savage presented a report on a trip by students in Business Professionals of America to a national competition in May in Orlando, Fla.

The next board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 8.
