Jennifer Janzen and her husband, Steve, of Hillsboro were not planning for their daughter Zoey to have such a unique birthday.
Janzen said she thought she was in false labor when she went to the hospital on November. 12.
“The nursing staff mentioned that it seemed like everyone was trying to have their baby that day,” she said. “We were surprised that there were several other families from Marion County in the maternal unit.”
Zoey was not due until Nov. 18, but she had other plans. Janzen started having contractions around 5:30 a.m. Nov. 12, but Janzen, thinking it was nothing, went to work like usual thinking it was too early and they would stop.
“Steve talked me into going to the hospital to get checked and a few hours later, Zoey was born,” she said.
Zoey’s 11/12/13 birthday is not the only sequential date important to the Janzens. The couple was married on 06/07/08 in Eureka Springs.
Steve Janzen said it would be easier for people, or her future significant other to remember to remember her birthday because of the unique date she was born on.
“But if her significant other can’t remember her birthday, he doesn’t deserve her anyway,” he joked.
Jennifer Janzen said their two boys, Zayden and Zeke were OK with having a new little sister.
“They’re excited, but they expected her to be a little girl instead of a baby,” she said. “They’ve begun teaching her to crawl and showing her various ninja moves.”
Grandma Phoebe Janzen of Florence said baby Zoey has been in and out of the hospital for jaundice treatments but is getting better each day.
