Silver-Haired Legislator forum held

Mary Olson, Silver-Haired Legislator for Marion County, attended a regional forum April 15.

The forum was held to help SHL members prepare for their meeting with legislators this fall in Topeka.

At the forum, Jay Rowh of Mitchell County was elected chairman and Barry Albin of Morris County was elected vice chairman.

The issues discussed were prioritized into five that will be presented at the fall SHL session with Rowh presenting as chairman.

Medicaid expansion and evaluating KanCare were two key issues — SHLs agreed that Medicaid expansion and evaluation of KanCare could be a saving for taxpayers in future expenses in the well-being of seniors.
