Sorosis Beta partakes in vintage gardening

On March 20, 13 Sorosis Beta Club members and two guests met at the home of club president Marilyn Cox.

Cox opened the meeting and members repeated the flag salute and club collect.

Jackie Spangler gave an informative program about vintage gardening. She told about heirloom plants, their seeds, and how to save them. She explained seed saver exchanges and banks, and heirloom ornamental flowers.

Minutes from the February meeting were read and approved. Marquetta Eilerts gave the treasurer’s report. A thank-you card from Peabody Senior Center was read. There was no old business.

Pat Henderson reported on behalf of the nominations committee. Nominations for the 2014-15 club year are president, Lou Ann Gray; vice president, Virginia Skinner; secretary, Sharon Pickens; and treasurer, Eilerts. It was moved and seconded that the nominative ballot become the elected ballot and the motion carried.

The April meeting to McPherson will be on April 12. Members will meet at the library at 9 a.m. to car pool.

The door prize was won by Henderson. Refreshments were served by Cox and co-hostess Sherri Gerety.
