Tabor calls on students to help with snow

Tabor College President Jules Glanzer canceled today’s classes Tuesday evening and designated today as a service day for the college.

Glanzer called on students, faculty, and staff to grab a snow shovel — made available by the college — and shovel out neighbors in Hillsboro.

“Our mission is to serve others and help people in need,” Glanzer said in a statement. “The Hillsboro community needs us to shovel snow for them, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

Tabor students will go door-to-door in Hillsboro to shovel snow for those unable to do it for themselves. The college organized a similar service day in February 2011 after a heavy snowstorm.

“People remember when our students helped out the community last time,” Glanzer said. “They certainly appreciated our willingness to shovel their driveways and sidewalks then, so we need to serve them again.”
