Tallgrass Express headlines Threshing Days

The Tallgrass Express string band will bring the music of the Kansas Flint Hills to the 40th Country Threshing Days celebration in Goessel.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Goessel High School auditorium. There is no admission fee, but donations will go to the Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum.

Threshing Days will be Friday to Sunday, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served each day.

A large-engine start-up, threshing, and plowing/field demonstrations will also take place on all days.

There will be a pedal tractor pull Saturday and antique tractor pull west of the museum grounds Sunday.

The parade on Main Street will line up at 9 a.m. Saturday on South Church Street. The parade begins at 9:30.

Children can make their own mud pies and tractor puzzles, or try corn shelling and horseshoeing at Uncle Milt’s make-it-and-take-it crafts Saturday and Sunday.

Art and crafts demonstrations will be Saturday in wheat hall, and worship service and dry brushing ceramics Sunday.

A sand volleyball tournament will be Friday through Sunday at West Branch Park. The four-on-four tournament includes men’s, women’s, and co-ed divisions.
