Virginia Edmunds

Virginia Lucille Edmunds passed away April 17, 2017, at Peabody Health and Rehab, Peabody, at the age of 86.

Born April 3, 1931, to Victor and Pauline (Kelsey) Weber in Marion, she graduated from Okeene High School, Okeene, Oklahoma, in 1950.

On Sept. 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to William Edmunds Sr. They celebrated 42 years of marriage in 1996.

She was a loving wife and mother to two sons and four daughters. During her life she assisted her husband at Marion Cemetery, was a lunchroom supervisor at Bown-Corby school, worked as a custodian at Marion County Courthouse, and provided day care for several families.

She was cared for in the family home for 18 years. Being unable to continue that care, the family placed her in Peabody Health and Rehab nursing home in 2015. She received excellent care and became acquainted with many of the residents.

After suffering a stroke she was placed in hospice care on April 4, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, parents and two brothers, Marvin and Gail Weber.

Survivors include two sons Melvin Honeyfield and William Edmunds Jr. of Marion; four daughters, Paula and Nancy Edmunds of Marion, Debbie Bayer and husband Barney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Becky Vannocker and husband Brad of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, David, Stacy, Melissa, Pam, Angie, and Jessica; 13 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials are Peabody Health and Rehab and Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with interment to follow in Marion Cemetery.
