Some of the boys who loaf around the depot in Florence for the purpose of stealing rides on the trains will undoubtedly get crippled if not killed. Parents, keep your boys away from the trains altogether.

And still the good work goes on. Sidewalks accumulate. Town pride growth. And the railroad is coming!

Four antelope invaded the suburbs of town yesterday morning and were chased away by impetuous nimrods. No casualties.

The Record office is ornamented with a new wastebasket. Authors of anonymous communications and writers of scurrilous personal articles should remember this.

A question of law was argued Monday before Judge Peters in the District Court involving the legality of acts of the first city council of Marion Centre. It was a case of some esspecial interest to those parties who hold several hundred dollars of the city’s outstanding paper. The court held the acts valid, whereat many hearts palpitate less rapidly.

Several weeks ago we gave an account of a 121-year-old tobacco box. A few weeks later we spoke of a still older relic, a 150-year-old cloak. Since then we have heard of a book, just how aged we have forgotten but older than the cloak. Also, a glass bottle of grotesque shape made in Ireland which is 200 years old.

It seemed like folly to think of finding anything older than this, and we were just about to give up the search when we received word from an antiquated maiden informing us that she would call on us soon and tell us her age. Her name is — well, we won’t tell that yet, but she is a very lovely relic, and some ancient bachelor ought to wed her and take her to the next centennial.
