Terrific winds lashed this part of the state nearly all of last week. Fortunately, snow was confined to light flurries. Warmer weather seems to be on its way.
The grocery store and filling station operated in conjunction with West Side Motel and Trailer Camp soon will be remodeled and reopened for business, it is announced this week by Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Newton, owners.
Former Marion resident 11-year-old Christina Vogt appeared on the television show, “What’s My Line?” Sunday evening from New York.
She charmingly stumped the panel of experts, Arlene Francis Mrs. John Lindsay, Henry Morgan, and Bennett Cerf, who couldn’t guess that she wrote a weekly newspaper column of advice to children.
Christina’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vogt, formerly of Marion, now of McPherson.
MHS juniors selected to attend Boys State and Girls State at Lawrence in June are Carol Bowers, Patrick Costello, Helen Jackson, and Ronald Kreutziger. Alternates are Steven Heinz. Linda Loney, and Janet Varenhorst.
Patrick Loney was honored with a party March 5 to celebrate his 6th birthday. Invited guests were Billy Edmunds, Gary Ewert, Michael Fruechting, Jeffrey Griffith, Scott Miesse, Jeff Richmond, Dean Seifert, Timothy Vogel, Jerald Waner, Jerry Winkley, and Ronnie Woerz.
