These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50 near Quail Creek Rd.

Sarah L. Dye, 41, Marion, reported after driving home that she had hit a coyote at 3 p.m. Feb. 11 with her 2009 Ford Mustang, according to one of five accident reports released Thursday by the sheriff’s department.

Damage to the car’s front and undercarriage was characterized as minor.

US-77 north of 170th Rd.

George Tidwell, 34, Riverdale, Georgia, hit a coyote at 11:21 p.m. Feb. 13 with his 2020 Kia Optima.

The car sustained disabling damage to its front, hood, and undercarriage and was towed.

290th Rd. west of Kanza Rd.

Jessie L. Goetz, 17, Park, hit a deer at 6:24 p.m. Feb. 14 with a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica.

The sport-utility vehicle, owned by Dena J. Goetz of the same address, sustained disabling damage to its front and hood and was towed.

50th Rd. near Alfalfa Rd.

A 2025 Hyundai Palisade owned and driven by Sarah J. Clifton, 36, Augusta, high-centered at 7:16 p.m. Feb. 17, overheated from attempts to free it, and was destroyed by fire.

US-56/77 north of 210th Rd.

Kendra R. McKervey, 20, Valley Center, hit a deer at 9:37 p.m. Feb. 17 with her 2021 Dodge Charger.

Mason H. Russell. 19, Manhattan, was a passenger at the time.

The car sustained disabling damage to its front, hood, roof, and driver’s side and was towed.

HILLSBORO

Main St. north of Grand Ave.

A southbound 2010 Honda Fury motorcycle and a 2014 Dodge Durango being backed out of a diagonal parking space collided at 2:40 p.m. Feb. 16.

Officer David Funk’s report blamed the accident on Durango driver Shana S. Thornhill, 49, rural Marion, failing to yield and on both her and motorcycle rider Carl E. Cunningham, 67, Hillsboro, driving inattentively.

No tickets were listed as being issued.

Cunningham was listed as injured but not taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Both vehicles sustained damage characterized as minor.

Parking lot in 400 block of E. D St.

James B. Wiens, 71, rural Hillsboro, backed his 2017 Ford F-350 and trailer at 5:30 p.m. Friday into the rear of a parked 2016 Nissan Altima owned by Kayden S. Scheer of Wichita.

MARION

Main St. east of Vine St.

Christopher L. Blackman, 55, Marion, was ticketed for transporting an open container of alcohol after he reportedly fell asleep at 7:36 p.m. Feb. 12 and drove a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado off the left side of the road, over a culvert, back across the road, off the right side of the road, and into a tree nearly 1,000 feet from where the veering began.

Officer Dustin Woodford’s report states that Blackman had been drinking but was not impaired. The report lists Blackman’s blood-alcohol level at 0.049. The legal limit is 0.080.

The report states that Blackman was injured but not taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The pickup, owned by KAO Railroad of Wichita, sustained disabling damage to its front and undercarriage and was towed.
