Firefighters
to get $112,000
Thirteen firefighter relief associations throughout Marion County will receive a total of $111,960.56 through the Kansas Firefighter Relief Act.
Money comes from a 2% tax paid by insurance companies on fire and lightning insurance premiums written in Kansas, according to a press release from the Kansas Department of Insurance.
In all, $20.7 million will be distributed to 552 Kansas firefighter relief organizations statewide this year.
