Police activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

March 23 — A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of N. Birch St. Suspicious activity reported in the 500 block of S. Washington St. was not found, nor was a vehicle reportedly driving left of center on US-56. A driver was warned about using headlights at Adams and A St. Police helped with an investigation by the Department of Children and Families.

March 24 — A driver was warned for speeding at Indigo and 180th Rds. Police trained Marion officers in use of tasers, helped a driver at US-56 and Ash St., talked to a resident about a civil matter, and again helped with a DCF investigation.

March 25 — Police investigated a wreck in the 300 block of S. Wilson St., checked on a transient at D and Wilson Sts., and talked to a resident about a possible scam.

Thursday — A driver was warned about an obstructed windshield at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd.

Friday — A driver was warned for speeding at Ash St. and Willow Rd. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter and patrolled downtown on foot.

Saturday — Drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. and at US-56 and Adams St. Police checked on an alarm at the city’s sewer ponds.

Sunday — A hit-and-run wreck in the Dollar General parking lot remains under investigation. Police found the owner of a dog loose in the 100 block of N. Adams St. Police could not find people who reportedly were riding on a couch in the bed of a truck at Lincoln and D Sts. but issued a warning to the driver for speeding. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.

MARION

March 23 — Police tried to calm an out-of-control juvenile at Oasis special education school. The department’s drug-sniffing dog was used with undisclosed results at a traffic stop by sheriff’s deputies on US-56 between Sunflower and Sunrise Rds. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Timber Rd.

March 24 — Drivers were warned for speeding on US-56 at Cedar St. and at Timber Rd.

March 25 — A resident complained about grass clippings in the street in the 800 block of E. Main St.

Thursday — A disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. was determined to be a civil matter. A resident asked about police standing by during a future civil matter.

Friday — A possible break-in at Cooperative Grain and Supply remains under investigation. A dog owner was ticketed for allowing a dog to be loose near Subway. Three drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at US-56 and Timber Rd. and at Main and 4th Sts.

Sunday — Drivers were warned for speeding at Main and 1st Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St.
