ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
April 20 — A person reported to be lying in a ditch at 190th and Holly Rds. was not found. A driver was warned for not using headlights when required at D and Adams Sts.
April 21 — A person driving a tractor on a walking path was told not to do so. Another driver was warned for running a stop sign at Adams and D Sts. Police received another driving complaint, talked to a resident about found property, helped a person locked out of her vehicle, and checked on a resident in the 100 block of N. Washington St.
April 23 — A driver was ticketed for displaying a wrong license plate. Another driver was warned for speeding in the 800 block of E. D St. Police talked to residents about obscene phone calls and about a civil matter.
Thursday — Police dealt with a child riding an electric scooter near Hillsboro Elementary School. A discarded battery was removed from the 200 block of E. 3rd St. A driver was warned for speeding in the 100 block of W. 2nd St.
Friday — Dogs were reported loose in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. A driver was warned for operating an off-road four-wheeler at 3rd and Ash Sts. Police talked to residents about a civil matter and about obtaining an order of protection from abuse.
Saturday — Police helped another locked-out driver, talked to a resident about home security measures, and helped a family with a medical issue. A driver was ticketed for not having a license at Orchard and Ash Sts. Another driver was warned for running a stop sign.
Sunday — A cable downed by high winds was found to be a communication line, not a power line. Police helped a driver whose vehicle was stuck in hail stones. A dog loose at Casey’s General Store eventually was picked up by its owner. Police checked the south side of town after receiving a report of a door-to-door peddler without a permit.
MARION
April 20 — Police continued to investigate a fraud case for which an offense report has not yet been released. No problems were found in checking on a noise complaint at St. Mark Catholic Church. Police tagged to be towed a vehicle without a license plate in the 100 block of N. 2nd St. Drivers were warned for speeding and an unspecified equipment violation in two traffic stops on US-56, at Cedar St. and at Timber Rd.
April 21 — A disturbance was reported at Oasis special education school. A driving complaint in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. was investigated. Drivers were warned for speeding and an unspecified equipment violation in two traffic stops at US-56 and Cedar St.
April 22 — A scam was reported in the 1500 block of Victory Ln., but no offense report was released. Two dogs were reported to be loose near the sheriff’s office. Drivers were warned for speeding or unspecified equipment violations in three traffic stops — at US-56 and Cedar St., at US-56 and Timber Rd., and at Roosevelt and Kellison Sts.
Thursday — A dog was reported loose in the 200 block of N. 4th St. A driver was warned for an unspecified equipment violation at US-56 and Industrial St.
Friday — A driver was warned for an unspecified equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd
Saturday — Police stood by while firefighters rescued a man stranded on the roof of a camper trailer in the 600 block of Hudson St. They also helped sheriff’s deputies at a traffic stop near US-50 and Wagon Wheel Rd.
Sunday — Three drivers were warned for unspecified equipment violations — two at US-56 and Cedar St. and one at Main and Freeborn Sts
