ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies typically are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
May 18 — A door-to-door salesperson at Grand Ave. and Elm St. was found to have a permit from city hall. A driver was warned for making a U-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St. Police helped a driver at US-56 and Ash St., talked to a resident about a civil matter, and notified another resident about a death.
May 19 — Police received a parking complaint from the 100 block of Date St. and a dog complaint from the 100 block of S. Birch St. An officer provided transportation for a person leaving the county.
May 20 — An accident in the Bomgaars parking lot was investigated. A driver in the 100 block of W. 2nd St. was warned about defective lights. Police checked on a disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of W. D St.
Thursday — A 52-year-old Peabody man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop. An underage person was ticketed for having an electronic cigarette after a traffic stop for defective lights at Goldenrod and 190th Rds. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Ash and Orchard Sts. A dog was reported loose in the 400 block of W. B St. Suspicious activity was reported at Ash and D St. Police met with a resident about a civil issue.
Friday — Police conducted active shooter training for day care staff members. Six empty feed bags were removed from the road at 190th and Jade Rds, Three drivers were warned for running a stop sign at Ash and D Sts.
Saturday — Participants in what was reported to be a fight at Country Haven Inn did not want to pursue charges. Residents complained about a dog in the 100 block of W. B St., an animal in the 200 block of S. Ash St., and kids riding all-terrain vehicles in an alley in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at D and Date Sts.
Sunday — A city crew was alerted to a report of a power line arcing in the 1000 block of S. Ash St.
MARION
May 18 — An unattended death in the 200 block of N. Cedar St. was investigated. No further information was released.
May 19 — A theft was reported near Grant St.; an offense report is not yet complete. A dog reported to be loose in the 400 block of N. 2nd St. was not found. Two drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and at Timber Rd. Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was deployed at an unspecified traffic stop by a sheriff’s deputy.
May 20 — Police talked to residents about limitations on learner’s permits and farm permits and followed up on the unintended death from May 18.
Thursday — Residents complained about alcohol being furnished to a minor; an offense report is not yet complete. A complaint of possible trespassing was made in the 400 block of E. Forest St. Police helped Newton police with an unspecified follow-up investigation. Five drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Cedar and Weldon St. and on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd.
Friday — Police helped investigate a report of possible trespassing for an unspecified agency. Twelve drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main and 4th Sts. and on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd.
Saturday — Four drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main and Lincoln Sts., at Main and Arbor Sts., and on US-56 at Timber Rd.
Sunday — A resident reported a burglary in the 200 block of N. Cedar St.; an offense report is not yet complete. Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was deployed at a traffic stop by a sheriff’s deputy at 190th and Nighthawk Rds. Police helped deputies at an injury accident in Florence. Two drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main and 1st Sts. and on US-56 at Timber Rd.
