Rick Schroer
Funeral services for Rick Schroer, 78, who died Thursday, April 23, 2026, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary. Burial will follow at 2 pm, at Grant Township Cemetery outside of Marion.
Rick graduated from Southeast High School in Wichita in 1965 and Wichita State University in 1976. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a crew chief in South Korea.
Rick owned and ran Wichita Carnival Supply. He set up carnival games including booths, supplies, and prizes for schools and churches. He also sold New Year’s Eve supplies.
Rick was owner and manager of Rose Bowl East in Wichita for 24 years. He was president of the Bowling Proprietor’s Association and responsible for getting high school bowling in Wichita public schools, starting in the 1999-2000 school year. It has now spread to almost every school district in the state, as well as many states in the country.
Rick sponsored two pro bowlers, Justin Hormek and Rick Steelsmith. He said it was the most exciting time he ever had. Both did well and became strong, successful men.
Rick is survived by his sister, Donna Schroer of Wichita, and many close friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Elsie Schroer of Wichita, and grandparents Albert and Alice Schroer of Lost Springs and Henry and Mable Melcher of Americus.
